Founder & CEO of the CFH Group, Chairman of the Board
Christian founded the CFH Group in 2008 with the aim of investing and creating companies that empower financial institutions to compete and win in their e-Markets. Today the group includes four companies, with clients in over 82 countries and more than 100 employees in 5 different locations. He also founded CFH Systems, a technology company based in Copenhagen and Zurich that provides cloud-hosted trading backend and margin systems.
Earlier in his career, Christian was part of the Senior Executive Management team at Saxo Bank and was responsible for 80% of the banks income. He joined them in early 2004 and quickly went from managing a small team of 10 people to run the global institutional sales team with 80 people in Copenhagen, London and Singapore. He was subsequently promoted to Senior Executive Director and Head of Europe & North America where he managed a team of 200 people in sales and account management, sales trading, private wealth management and marketing. Prior to Saxo Bank, Christian worked for Bloomberg L.P in London looking after both London based major accounts like UBS, Nomura and HSBC and major Scandinavian clients. Christian was part of the first wave of internet start-ups in Europe in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, when he co-founded Bizzadvice.com in London. Christian holds a BSc degree in Finance from Boston College Carroll School of Management, and is a member of the Europe One Chapter of Young.
Chris Mathias is one of England’s most successful Internet entrepreneurs and private equity investors, born and raised in India but now living in the UK. Chris serves on several boards including the advisory board of Barclays Private Wealth Management and is member of the Global Philanthropists Circle. Chris has invested in more than 30 companies either personally or via his two venture capital companies, CMG Partner and Arbor Ventures and holds an exceptional track record in building businesses.
Most notably Chris founded and later sold Conduit Communication in 1999 for in excess of 150 million GBP. Chris had previously been the CEO of the Harpur Group, UK’s second largest provider of fuel card services and has led a number of successful business turnarounds and buyouts. Prior to that Chris has worked for Arthur Andersen and Bain & Company in London. Chris holds an MBA from INSEAD. From Boston College Carroll School of Management, and is a member of the Europe One Chapter of Young.
Co-founder & CEO of CFH Clearing
Lars is an expert in E-FX with over 12 years of experience in the banking sector. He joined CFH with a unique background from both the retail and banking and most recently from the technology sector of the industry. Prior to CFH Clearing, Lars was European Head of Currenex’s (StateStreet Bank) Margin Trading Group and responsible for both the product and the business side. Lars was employed to help create and build a new margin (retail) broker trading platform and was responsible for delivering the majority of the global budget. Lars also spent several years with Dresdner Bank as Head of E-FX Sales and was a key player in all E-FX initiatives and the E-FX turnaround. His responsibilities included business sponsor for Dresdner’s white label solutions and for all relationship towards API clients, brokers, ECNs and multi-bank platforms. Before leaving, Lars was made interim business owner of the FX Prime Brokerage team. Lars also has over five years’ experience with Saxo Bank in various leadership roles including Global Head of Sales and Account Management.
Group CFO of CFH Group
Matthew joined CFH as Chief Financial Officer in 2014. Matthew started his career with PwC in London, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2000. Subsequently Matthew worked for London Stock Exchange plc in a variety of roles covering M&A, Investor Relations and financial reporting. After this he worked as Head of Finance at Bridgewell, the boutique investment bank, and was a founding partner at Ipex Capital, a fund investing in telematics, e-procurement and medical device start ups. His last role was as Head of Finance at Moneycorp, the foreign exchange and international payments specialist, where he was responsible for financial reporting and was heavily involved in the sale of the business to Bridgepoint in 2014.
Troels T. Madsen
Chief Technical Officer
Troels Madsen is CTO of CFH Systems and is responsible for software development, IT infrastructure and outsource IT joint ventures. Prior to joining CFH, Troels spent over 10 years with Saxo Bank as Chief System Architect/CTO and was one of the key drivers behind growing the IT organisation from 5 to over 300 IT specialists. During his time at Saxo Bank, Troels was responsible for designing, implementing and growing the bank's online multi-product trading system for financial instruments from scratch, which today caters for over 10,000 concurrent users, and handles over 200,000 trades per day. Troels brings extensive experience and skills from the capital markets industry.
Ole serves as the company’s Executive Director and is responsible for technology partnerships and IT strategy, and the operations of CFH’s own development teams around the world. Ole is one out of a handful of IT experts in margin trading globally with over 25 years’ experience in complex software and computer systems. Ole was previously Senior Executive Director, CIO and Head of IT for Saxo Bank for 10 years where he built Saxo Bank's first online trading systems and grew the IT department from two people into one of the most renowned specialist online trading organisations in the world, with an IT staff of 300 people and an annual IT budget of USD 50 million. Before leaving Saxo Bank in 2006, Ole became "IT Manager of the Year" in Denmark for his accomplishments at Saxo Bank. Since departing Saxo Bank, Ole has consulted for leading banks like Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank.
